Well hello there! My name is Miss Sass, and every year, I always have kids who want to know all about their teacher...so today is the day! Get a notebook, pencil, and get ready for some information!
I always wanted to be a teacher ever since I left the third grade! I used to play school, line up my stuffed animals, and even grade papers! I had a great teacher to inspire me, named Mr. Pearson, and I hope to do the same each year with my students here at Joseph Hess School. After high school, I went on to Purdue University, and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I also have a reading minor, and am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Childhood Psychology!
Part of being a great teacher is doing things differently in my classroom so I am able to reach all my students according to their learning style. I have learned and trusted using thematic unit instruction in my classroom. A thematic unit is where I transform my classroom environment into what we learn about. The curriculum is then based around that specific theme. You can read more about what we do in 4th Grade later on!
